How do restaurants get you to spend more?
The restaurants have come up with tactics that lure the customers to either eat more or pay more than they had intended. One of the tactics the restaurants use is complicating menus. For instance, some restaurants do not include prices for some foods or beverages on the menu or they avoid using dollar signs. Removing the dollar signs make the customers get the impression that food or other products are no expensive. After serving you with the main dish that you have asked for, they ask you whether or not you want an additional food, salad or beverage served together. You realize afterwards that you are supposed to add much more cash for the additional food, beverage or salad.
Also, the language and imagery used by the restaurants in describing their products makes them look very valuable. When they describe the content of their foods, you get the impression that they are not expensive, yet they are. Sometimes, the restaurants control the choices of groups of products that are served together to make sure that you spend more. Hand-eye coordination is a psychological approach that is also used in restaurants to convince the customers to accept certain recommendations.
